Breast pumping can be a time consuming venture, but if you stay organized it can become a very efficient process. Creating your own system can help you make each of your breast pumping sessions go by much more quickly.
One tip is to always have a certain place in your house or workplace where you breast pump each time. Lugging your breast pump around each time you have pump or having to look around for that lost black bag is going to slow down your process tremendously.
Clean and put al your breast pumping equipment away after you have finished your breast pumping session. If it is time to start your pumping session, you be more likely to get aggravated if you have to finish storing your excess milk, clean all that dried breast milk out of your equipment, drying and putting everything back together, oh, man, and now I actually have to pump. Get it all done after your last session, and then you can just sit down and pump.
Keep extras of a few things. I wish I had figured this one out when I first began pumping, it saves so much time AND energy. Instead of just using the two to four bottles that come with your pump, get LOTS extra. Having ten to twelve extra bottles can get you through an entire day of breast pumping sessions. Also, extra horns are great to have on hand. Get an extra two to four horns and you will not have to clean the breast milk out of the horns every pumping session. Just wait until the end of the day, and wash everything together.
