Breast milk simply has the exact amount of nutrients (fat, sugar, water, and protein) that an infant requires for their health and wellbeing. Nearly all newborns are immediately able to digest their mother’s breast milk easier than formula or synthetic baby milk. The FDA suggests that there is no infant that has an allergy to their mother’s breast milk, however, they may have an adverse reaction to a food that the mother has consumed. In addition, with breast milk, infants tend to eat only what they require, and do not gain any extra weight.
Over 20 years of research has found that providing breast milk to your infant has the following benefits:
- babies tend to be less sick that formula fed babies, reducing illness such as ear infections, diarrhea, allergies, etc.;
- the breast milk contains antibodies which helps the baby fight off germs and other illnesses;
- breast milk has many ingredients not found in formula;
- less time and money spend;
- less time worrying about the right formula to purchase.
